Vishnu Vaidya said, "He was infected by the coronavirus but later recovered. His health suddenly deteriorated on Friday".
PM Narendra Modi took to Twitter to mourn the demise of Madhav Govind Vaidya.
PM Modi tweeted, "Shri MG Vaidya Ji was a distinguished writer and journalist. He contributed extensively to the RSS for decades. He also worked to strengthen the BJP. Saddened by his demise. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti".
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Saturday stated that following the death of MG Vaidya, the organization has lost a senior mentor. In a joint statement, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and General Secretary Bhaiyyaji Joshi said, "All our volunteers of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh have lost one of our senior patrons after the demise of Madhav Govind alias Baburaoji Vaidya".
Both described Vaidya as someone who had a lot of knowledge of Sanskrit, who was a brilliant journalist and a brilliant writer. "His life was a prosperous and fine life, deeply aligned with Sangh’s thoughts and values, and a manifestation of Sangh’s core values in all four vistas of his life viz. personal, familial, social and professional," the statement read.
Manmohan Vaidya, son of MG Vaidya and joint general secretary of the RSS, described him as the "Promoter of Hindutva" who led an active, meaningful, and inspiring life. He said, "When he was eight years old, he became an RSS volunteer ... He used to participate in the Sangh branch till the age of 95."
Vaidya was the first national spokesperson of the RSS and is credited for presenting the organization to the world.
