Security forces on Saturday (July 25) eliminated two unidentified terrorists in  Ranbirgarh area on the outskirts of Srinagar in Kashmir . 

Brigadier Naresh Mishra, 10 Sector Commander confirmed that two terrorists have been neutralised in the encounter in Ranbirgarh. As per the senior Army officer, the search operation is still underway. He added that the identity of the slain terrorists can not be confirmed for now


A police official said, "A Joint team of security forces including the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu Kashmir Police, the Army and CRPF launched a search operation after receiving specific inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area."

A joint search party of the Police, CRPF and the Army came under heavy fire when they zeroed on the spot where the terrorists were hiding, thereby triggering the encounter. Arms and ammunition have been recovered from the slain terrorists.

Earlier on July 18, security forces gunned down three terrorists in an encounter at Amshipora area of Shopian district in South Kashmir.

According to reports, a cordon and search operation was launched by a joint team of Kashmir Police, 62 Rashtriya Rifles and CRPF in the wee hours of Saturday in Amshipora village after the forces received specific intelligence inputs about the presence of a few terrorists in the area.
