Security forces gunned down three terrorists in an encounter at Amshipora area of Shopian district in South Kashmir on Saturday (July 18).

According to reports, a cordon and search operation was launched by a joint team of Kashmir Police, 62 Rashtriya Rifles and CRPF in the wee hours of Saturday in Amshipora village after the forces received specific intelligence inputs about the presence of a few terrorists in the area.

The encounter is the second between the security forces and militants in last 24 hours in Kashmir Valley. Earlier on Friday morning, three Jaish militants were eliminated in Kashmir's Kulgam district.

 In a major blow to the militants in South Kashmir, security forces gunned down a top Jaish-e-Mohammad militant commander, known to be an IED expert in operation in Kulgam. While three militants were killed, three army soldiers were injured in the gunfight at the Nagnad Chimmer area of the Kulgam district.
