Violence In Sarai Khan, Delhi: Paramilitary Force has been deployed at Delhi's Sarai Kale Khan after the area witnesses huge violence. Houses were ransacked and people were beaten up on late Saturday night after a man from the locality married a woman from a different community. People in the area suffered huge violence because of inter-faith marriage.


CCTV footage shows the men entering the narrow lanes and breaking pots and coolers, pelting stones, and banging on doors to threaten residents. Another video shows damaged bikes and cycles lying on the street. Locals also alleged that 25-30 men entered the area and started destroying properties, some even carried sharp weapons like swords and knives and threatened that next time there will be bloodshed. 


Locals said that the mob entered the lane filled with rage and started beating everyone with sticks and lathis, the people somehow saved themselves by hiding inside their homes.

Communal tension grips Harijan Basti in Sarai Kale Khan


There is significant communal tension in the area following the incident of Saturday night.


According to sources, a PCR call regarding a quarrel in the area of Sarai Kale Khan was received at PS Sun Light Colony at around 11 PM on Saturday. Police have arrested 4 accused and are in search of others who were a part of the violence.


The spot was visited by senior officers and it was revealed that Sumit and Khushi , both adults, of the same locality got married against the will of their parents. The relative and known persons from the girl's came to the Gali where the boy resides and damaged vehicles.

The police arrested the woman’s brother Farman and his neighbours and relatives Shahrukh , Hasan Ali and Raja and registered a case under sections of rioting, violence and destruction of property. Security was also stepped up and ITBP personnel were deployed in the locality. Videos of the violence was also circulated by some on social media.
