Reports said that a resident of Pamposh Colony Badshah Nagar Srinagar was practicing as an MBBS doctor in Regipora Kupwara for several months and was finally trapped into their web.

The alleged accused has been identified as Maqsood Ahmad Khan, son of Ghulam Mohammad Khan.

A police official divulged that the accused was working with the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK).

Soon after the incident came into limelight, locals of the area demanded strict action against the accused who without having a professional degree treated patients and therefore brought a bad name to the profession.

However, it has been revealed that the said person was working as Sanitary Inspector in the Health Department and was presently posted in Bone & Joint Hospital Barzulla Srinagar.

Notably last year a fake doctor was arrested by police in north Kashmir’s Pattan area after he got exposed during a media trial.

While confirming the arrest of the alleged fake doctor, a police officer told that prima-facie it was not immediately known whether the doctor was a fake. He said the case under FIR number 225/2020 U/S 420, 486, 471 IPC has been registered in PS Kupwara and further investigation was taken up.
