Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann took a dig at the Congress on Monday by saying that the shortest story that a mother can narrate to her child in Delhi or Punjab will be 'Ek thi Congress... (Once there was a Congress)'. Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit on Tuesday responded to Mann by saying that soon, mothers will say that there was a party that can now be found in Tihar Jail. He asked which party has 40 per cent of its leadership in jail and the rest being readied to go. The war of words comes amid seat-sharing talks in the I.N.D.I.A bloc for the Lok Sabha elections 2024.

Dikshit made the jibe at the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) current situation with the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The AAP has been under fire by the ED for the past year in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy scam. Allegedly, a number of financial irregularities were seen in the implementation of the said policy. The ED is probing the case in detail. So far, former Minister Satyendra Jain and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia have been jailed in the matter.

The ED also summoned Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the matter. However, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party has been skipping the last few summons. He is now expected to appear before the ED on Wednesday for questioning in the same matter.
