Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national leader, remarked on Sunday that his party has acquired support for its "work-centric politics," and that party members should be prepared "to go to jail for the paths we have chosen for the public good," news agency PTI reported. While chairing the party's National Executive and National Council meeting, which were held virtually on Sunday, he remarked: "The Aam Aadmi Party has risen to third place among 1,350 political parties in these 10 years."
"If we were not successful and did not do anything good, then none of our party leaders would have gone to jail and today everyone would have been happy with their families," he was quoted by PTI in its report. The Enforcement Directorate has summoned Kejriwal to appear before it on January 3 in connection with the Delhi excise policy-related money laundering investigation.
Speaking with the party workers, he said: "If you give good education to children, you will have to go to jail. If you provide free treatment to the poor, you will have to go to jail. We will have to go to jail for the paths we have chosen for public good."
Kejriwal stated during the National Council meeting that the AAP has provided the people a genuine electoral choice and has acquired support for its work-centric politics.
He also lauded Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for the state's tremendous achievement.
AAP To Launch Public Campaign On Jan 4
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will start a public campaign in favour of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on January 4, 2024, a day after Kejriwal is slated to appear before the ED in a money laundering case related to the'scam' Delhi excise policy.
All Delhi ministries, MLAs, and councillors will take part in the 'Main Bhi Kejriwal Jan Samvad' campaign, which will take place across the national capital.
The upcoming campaign follows a similar public outreach programme ('Main Bhi Kejriwal') that ran from December 1 to December 30. That campaign solicited public input on whether Kejriwal should resign or remain in government if he is jailed in connection with the liquor policy issue.
