Salman Khan Threat Letter Case: Here Is What The Actor Said In His Statement To Police
Salman Khan Threat Letter Case: A letter threatened that Salman Khan and his father Salim Khan would meet the fate of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala.
Bollywood actor Salman Khan, in his statement to Mumbai Police, denied receiving threat calls from any person or having a dispute with anyone in the recent past, ANI reported. Mumbai Police on Monday recorded the statement of Salman Khan and his father Salim Khan after a letter threatened that the father-son duo would meet the fate of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala.
Salman Khan's statement was recorded on Monday evening before he left for Hyderabad. The statement of the actor's father, noted screenplay writer Salim Khan, was also recorded.
After the threat letter emerged, police has enhanced the security around the Salman Khan's residence in suburban Bandra.
"Salim Khan, Salman Khan Bahot Jald Aapka Mooselwala Hoga G.B L.B (Salim Khan, Salman Khan, very soon you will meet Moosewala's fate)," the letter said, PTI reported. There was speculation that "GB" and "LB" may refer to gangsters Goldy Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi. However, police did not make any statement on this aspect.
Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala was killed by unidentified assailants in Mansa district of Punjab last month, a day after the government curtailed his security cover. Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar claimed responsibility for Sidhu Moose Wala's murder in a Facebook post. Goldy Brar is a close aide of gang leader Lawrence Bishnoi, who is lodged in Tihar Jail.
Mumbai police commissioner Sanjay Pandey said they were taking the threat letter very seriously. "It's too early to say if the letter is fake, and also we can't say anything about the (involvement of) Lawrence Bishnoi gang," he said.
According to sources, the threat letter was given by an employee doing cleaning work in Bandra to the security personnel of Salim Khan. Investigators have collected footage of more than 200 CCTV cameras in the area to identify the person who gave the letter, PTI reported.
A case under section 506-II (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at the Bandra police station.
