New Delhi: Sagar Ratna, the food chain well-known for offering South Indian cuisine, has filed a complaint against an alleged rumour-monger.
The person is allegedly responsible for spreading a rumour that 40 delivery boys of the restaurant have tested positive for Covid-19.
No FIR has been registered, however, Sagar Ratna has filed a complaint with the Defence Colony police station in Delhi.
The police have asked the restaurant chain to provide proof for their complaint, like a screenshot that can depict that such a claim has been spread. Following that, the police will take suitable action.
According to Sagar Ratna, the person was trying to gain attention by spreading the baseless rumour about their food chain.
Jayaram Banan, Chairman, Sagar Ratna Group, said, "I think this person is trying to demand something from us by spreading fake news and rumour. Even the President of the Defence Colony RWA and the market association has denied the allegations."
The Chairman emphasized that they are paying special attention to provide a safe working environment for employees.
The President of the Defence Colony RWA, Major (retd) Ranjeet Singh, said, "After these rumours, we collectively decided to file a complaint with the police as we can't allow people to defame our colony, markets and such big food chains without facts."
From 1986 when the first branch was opened in Defence Colony, Sagar Ratna currently has more than 90 restaurants in Delhi-NCR alone with many franchise outlets across the country.
