Russia-Ukraine Crisis: Indian Student Hospitalised In Kyiv After Being Shot At

An Indian student has been hospitalised after being shot by a bullet in the Ukranian Capital of Kyiv.

New Delhi: An Indian student has been hospitalised after being shot by a bullet in the Ukranian Capital Kyiv reported news agency ANI. A few days back a medical student from Karnataka's Haveri, had lost his life in shelling at a government building in Kharkhiv.

Minister of State (MoS) for Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) General VK Singh Thursday confirmed the news to ANI and said, "A student from Kyiv was reported to have been shot and was immediately admitted to the hospital in Kyiv".

"The Indian embassy had earlier cleared on the priority that everyone should leave Kyiv. In the event of war, the gun bullet does not look at anyone's religion and nationality," Singh added further.

Due to the ongoing conflict with Russia, several Indian nationals including students have fled Ukraine with the help of the Indian government.

According to the ministry of external affairs, over 6,000 Indians from Ukraine have been brought back in 30 flights so far under Operation Ganga.

MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi on Thursday said that India is in touch with Ukraine and Russian authorities for safe evacuation of Indian nationals. He also said that more flights are being pressed into action and that large number of Indians will be brought back home in next 2-3 days.

In order to speed up evacuation, the government has formed a group of ministers to coordinate rescue efforts with Ukrainian neighbours, Romania, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia.

Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia is looking after evacuation efforts in Romania and Moldova, Hardeep Singh Puri is incharge of Hungary, while Kiren Rijiju and  Gen (Retd) VK Singh are working with officials in Slovakia and Poland, respectively.
