New Delhi: The West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wrote a letter to the Prime Minister of India urging for an all-party meeting over the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict and rescue operations for the Indian citizens stranded in Ukraine.
"...in times of grave international crisis, we keep aside our domestic differences aside to stand united as a nation", she wrote in the letter.
The CM wrote, "particularly with regard to the evacuation of the stranded Indians in Ukraine, and, specifically, in giving a quick helping hand to our students there in distress, we stand united under our tri-colour flag, irrespective of party or politics."
CM Mamata Banerjee expressed her "unconditional" support and requested an all-party meeting to "consolidate national resolve".
Despite the ongoing Operation Ganga, there still are a number of Indian students and citizens stranded in Ukraine, who are consistently requesting to be rescued. So far, 1156 Indians have returned safely.
The Indian Embassy in Kyiv announced that the weekend curfew in Kyiv has been lifted and requested Indian students to go to the nearby railway station and head to the Western regions.
As the Ukrainian airspace has been closed, rescue operations are taking place through Romania, Poland & Hungary.
