New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi shared a video on Twitter of students being hit by Russian soldiers and urged the Centre to rescue a 'detailed evacuation plan'. 


In the tweet, he wrote that his heart goes out to the students suffering such violence and how no parent should go through the pain of watching these videos.

Gandhi and the Congress party have been criticising the government for not evacuating Indian students in time from Ukraine and have called for urgent steps to evacuate them after Russia attacked Ukraine. A number of Congress leaders have shared videos of Indian students in Ukraine highlighting their plight and making appeals to the Indian government to evacuate them soon.


Earlier he shared a video of some Kannada students who were trapped in a bunker in Ukraine for a few hours, the student Meghna who recorded the video showed the condition of the bunker and the other students stuck there with no food or water. She requested the government of India to rescue them. Gandhi with the video appealed to the government to share a proper evacuation plan to rescue the students.


Operation Ganga


The exercise to bring back students stranded or stuck in Ukraine is called 'Operation Ganga', 1156 Indians have safely returned after they made their way to the neighbouring countries of Ukraine as the Ukrainian airspace is closed. The Ministry of External Affairs on Sunday launched an official Twitter handle 'Opganga Helpline' with aiming to assist the repatriation of Indians from Ukraine.


On Monday morning, an Air India flight reached Delhi from Bucharest, the capital of Romania, at 6:30 am. There were 249 Indian citizens on board. This was the fifth flight in three days under 'Operation Ganga'. All countries including India are making constant efforts for the safe return of their citizens.
