New Delhi: The Republic Day Parade 2022 will highlight India's military prowess and cultural diversity, and several new activities have also been incorporated to commemorate the 75th year of independence as part of the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav'.


The defence ministry said several firsts are planned during the main Republic Day parade 2022.

"Launch of 'Shaheedon Ko Shat Shat Naman' programme by National Cadet Corps, a grand flypast by 75 aircraft, helicopters of the Indian Air Force, cultural performances by 480 dancers, display of ten scrolls each of 75 metres prepared during the 'Kala Kumbh' event," will feature during Republic Day parade 2022 as per defence ministry.


As per the Ministry, a drone display including 1,000 domestically produced manufactured drones, as well as projection mapping, is planned for the 'Beating  Retreat' celebration.


The National Flag will be unfurled, followed by the National Anthem and a resounding 21-gun salute, as is customary. The procession will begin with President Ram Nath Kovind saluting.

Lieutenant General Vijay Kumar Mishra, Ati Vishisth Seva Medal, a second-generation Army officer, will lead the procession. The Parade Second-in-Command will be Major General Alok Kacker, Chief of Staff, Delhi Area.


Marching Contingents On Republic Day Parade 2022


The parade will feature six marching contingents of the Indian Army, such as the Rajput Regiment, the Assam Regiment, the Jammu & Kashmir Light Regiment, the Sikh Light Regiment, the Army Ordnance Corps, and the Parachute Regiment.


The Madras Regimental Centre, the Kumaon Regiment Centre, the Maratha Light Regimental Centre, the Jammu & Kashmir Light Regimental Centre, the Army Medical Corps Centre and School, the 14 Gorkha Training Centre, the Army Supply Corps Centre and College, the Bihar Regimental Centre, and the Army Ordnance Corps Centre will all march past the saluting dais.


The marching contingents of the Indian Army's theme is the evolution of the Indian Army's uniform and troops weaponry over the previous 75 years.

Republic Day Parade 2022 Tableaux


The marching contingents will be followed by tableaux of 12 states and union territories and nine ministries, departments on diverse topics planned for the 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.'

"The grand finale and the most keenly awaited segment of the parade, the FlyPast, will, for the first time, witness 75 aircraft, helicopters of the Indian Air Force displaying a number of formations, as part of 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav'," reads the official statement.


For the first time, the IAF has collaborated with Doordarshan to broadcast cockpit views during the flyover.


The celebration will conclude with the singing of the national song and the launching of tri-colour balloons.
