New Delhi: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal unfurled the national flag at the Delhi government's Republic Day function on Tuesday, during the event he made an address in which he touched various topics.


He announced that in every office of the Delhi government pictures of Ambedkar and Bhagat Singh will be put up.

During his speech at the function, the chief minister said he is most inspired by Baba Saheb Ambedkar and Bhagat Singh who charted different courses for the same dreams and goals. Kejriwal pledged to fulfil Ambedkar's dream of quality education for all children, rich or poor.


"Today we pledge to fulfil BR Ambedkar's dreams of quality education for every kid. We have brought that revolution into the education sector in the last 7 years. Melania Trump, former US President Donald Trump's wife also visited our govt schools...We got our certificate."


Speaking at the event, Kejriwal said that he is truly inspired by Dr Ambedkar and Bhagat Singh. Recalling the struggles of Dr Ambedkar, he said that at a time when there was no internet, Dr Ambedkar had pursued his education from Columbia University and the London School of Economics.


"A lesson that we learn from his life is to dream big for the country," he said.


He then announced that every Delhi government office will have pictures of BR Ambedkar and Bhagat Singh, "Today I announce that at every office of the Delhi govt, there will be photos of BR Ambedkar and Bhagat Singh. Now we won't put any CM or politician's photos." 


He further spoke about the various programs that will be conducted in school including 'Happiness Classes', in which students will meditate and will be taught moral stories. 'Business Blasters' are entrepreneurship classes as students have shown interest in providing jobs instead of seeking them. 


He said that the Covid-19 positivity rate in the national capital has reduced by 20 per cent in the last 10 days and added that the restrictions will soon be lifted. He talked about how he understands livelihoods shouldn't be affected by Covid, heath is important as well. 


"COVID positivity rate has reduced by 20 per cent in the span of last 10 days. Today it's about 10 per cent, opposed to the 30 percent positivity rate on January 15. All of this is because of the consistent pace of vaccination," Kejriwal said while addressing a program in Delhi


Lauding the efforts of healthcare workers, Kejriwal said that 100 per cent population of Delhi has received the first dose of the Covid vaccine and 82 per cent have received the second dose of the vaccine.
