New Delhi: As many as 29 children have been chosen for this year's Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar. They were awarded in the six fields of innovation, scholastic achievements, sports, arts and culture, social service and bravery.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held an online interaction with these children on Monday.

Each child was given a medal, a certificate and a cash prize of Rs 1,00,000. The certificates were awarded digitally, using blockchain technology, according to a PIB report.

Speaking to the children, PM Modi urged them to support the 'Vocal for Local' campaign. He also talked about the unveiling of freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's hologram statue at the India Gate, and told them: "Taking inspiration from Netaji, you have to proceed on your path of duty for the country."

It was Netaji's 125th birth anniversary on January 23.
