New Delhi: With the current rise in Covid-19 cases, Jharkhand has reached out to a pharmaceutical company in Bangladesh to import in 50,000 vials of Remdesivir at a price of Rs. 10 lakhs (one million dollars).
Chief minister of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren, reached out to Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers of India, D. V. Sadananda Gowda for the permission to import this drug from the neighbouring country at thr time of crisis.

In the letter, the talked about the acute shortage of Remdesivir faced by Jharkhand at a time when they are seeing a huge influx of migrant workers coming in from states like Gujarat and Maharashtra which will only make matter worse, "In spite to the best of our efforts, we have not been able to meet the demands of the patients which is causing adverse impact on the recovery and fatality rate of the state of Jharkhand."
India is using Remdesivir in the treatment of adversly effected Covid patients, in the second wave, there is a sudden surge of cases which has put the medical system under pressure. Various states is seeing an acute shortage of Oxygen cylinders and Remdesivir, two of which are vitals to hospitals and Covid facilities at the moment.
