New Delhi: Former Union Ministers and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders Ravi Shankar Prasad and Prakash Javadekar will be given important responsibilities in the party organisation, sources said.


According to the information, they can be made national general secretary or national vice president of the party. They can also be given charge of heading campaigns in electoral states. An announcement can be made in this regard soon, sources said.

After the departure of 12 ministers including stalwarts like Ravi Shankar Prasad, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, and Prakash Javadekar from the Union Council of Ministers, speculations have been rife about their political future as there is a possibility that some of them may be entrusted with other responsibilities in the BJP framework.


There is a possibility that the leaders BJP leaders excluded from the union cabinet like Prasad, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, and Javadekar can be given a meaty role in BJP's parliamentary board.


Apart from these three leaders, Thawarchand Gehlot, Santosh Gangwar, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Sadananda Gowda, Babul Supriyo, Debashree Choudhary, Sanjay Dhotre, Ratanlal Kataria, and Pratapchand Sarangi were also removed from the Council of Ministers.


As previously stated, Ravi Shankar Prasad and Prakash Javadekar can be made national general secretary or national vice president of the party.


At present, the BJP has eight general secretaries including Bhupendra Yadav, 12 vice-presidents including Annapurna Devi, and 13 secretaries including Bishweswar Tudu. JP Nadda formed his team almost 8 months after he was appointed as the president of the saffron party in January 2020.


Responsibility Of Electoral States 


Assembly elections are slated to be held in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa, and Manipur early next year and it is expected that leaders like Prasad, Javadekar, Nishank, and Dr Harsh Vardhan can be included in the organisation to fulfill the responsibility of campaigning in the electoral states.


Prasad and Javadekar have played an important role in the BJP in the past as well. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank was the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand while Dr. Harsh Vardhan has worked as the President of BJP's Delhi unit.
