'Rang De Korea': Korean Pop Band Kicks Off Cultural Festival In Delhi With A Bang

Korean Cultural Festival named "Rang De Korea" kicked off in Delhi on Saturday. The K Pop bands set the stage ablaze and the audience mesmerised with their performances.

A full-fledged Korean cultural festival called "Rang De Korea" started on Saturday, and the K-Pop girl group "BugAboo" and boy group "Kingdom" won the audience over, reported a news agency ANI. According to a statement made by the Korean Embassy, the two-day festival began with the lighting of the lamp by the principal guest Shri Kumar Tuhin, Director General, ICCR, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to India, Chang Jae-bok.

The Korean Cultural Centre India KCCI organised "Rang De Korea" at DLF Avenue Saket to mark the organization's tenth anniversary. The Korean ambassador to India greeted the "friends of Korea" and said that the Korean Culture Centre's 10-year journey to popularise Korean culture in India had been really historic.

Chang Jae-bok said: "Thanks to its dedication and efforts, Indian people, particularly youth are better aware of Korea and its multi-hued culture. Today, from music to movies, fashion to food, Indian youths have begun loving everything Korean. As an Ambassador, nothing could be more exciting and satisfying than to see expanding frontiers of the Korean culture in India," reported ANI.

The festival kicked off with the beats of traditional Korean Music Samulnori along with Haegeum performance which was then followed by the first-ever Korean traditional wedding ceremony to take place in India on such a huge platform.

Two couples were selected through a preliminary event, and today Indian couple Vishal Gupta and Jyoti Gupta got married in front of their family and friends in a traditional Korean ceremony. Both Korea and India share similar values and give this graceful event, its customs, ceremonies, traditions, and celebration a great deal of meaning and importance.

The eager audience saw the Taekwondo display at noon by the K-Tigers, who are popularising martial arts throughout the world with professional performances and demonstrations. The ID', a Korean fusion band that mixed traditional Korean music with the rhythm and forms of Western music, performed after this upbeat performance. The statement states it made the audience dance their feet off.

The statement read: "The first day of the event was closed with the 'Hanbok' fashion show directed by Samuel Chung, vice president of the Korean Culture Promotion Association, who is a veteran and has various experience in the world's fashion capitals like Paris (just coming from the latest fashion show in Paris)."

The statement further read: "He personally designed and directed the fashion show in India along with his own designers and directing team from Korea. It was exciting to see how the Korean traditional clothing, Hanbok was reinterpreted to show India its potential to lead the global fashion trend."

The event is still on for the audience as it will again open the gate for the audience tomorrow at 11 am.
