In a historic ceremony, the consecration of the new Ram Lalla idol at the Ayodhya temple took place, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the event. Millions of viewers tuned in to witness the 'pran pratishtha' ceremony, a pivotal moment in India's political and religious history, as Army helicopters showered flower petals on the newly constructed Janmabhoomi temple.

Addressing the audience after the idol consecration, PM Modi expressed that Lord Ram would no longer reside in a tent but would now be housed in a magnificent temple. Here are the top quotes from the Ayodhya Ram Mandir inauguration ceremony:



  • "Today, our Ram has arrived. After a long wait for ages, our Ram has arrived. Our Ram Lalla will no longer live in a tent. Our Ram Lalla will stay in a magnificent temple," stated PM Modi.

  • Modi, addressing the gathering, acknowledged Ram's supreme blessings and sought forgiveness for any shortcomings in their efforts. He expressed confidence in Lord Ram's forgiveness, noting, "Our Ram has arrived today after wait, patience, sacrifices of centuries".

  • Reflecting on the temple's construction, PM Modi highlighted its symbolic significance, stating, "There was also a time when some people used to say 'Ram Mandir bana toh aag lag jaegi'...Such people could not understand the purity of India's social spirit. The construction of this temple of Ram Lalla is also a symbol of peace, patience, mutual harmony, and coordination in Indian society. We see that this construction is not giving birth to any fire, but energy". 

  • "This is a temple of national consciousness in the form of Ram. Ram is the faith of India, Ram is the foundation of India.   • Reflecting on the legal battles over Lord Ram's existence, the prime minister thanked the judiciary for delivering justice and ensuring the legal construction of Lord Ram's temple even after the Constitution came into existence. "Even after the Constitution came into existence, a legal battle was fought for decades on Lord Ram's existence. I would like to the thank judiciary that delivered justice and Lord Ram's temple was built legally," the prime minister said.

  • Recalling his journey from Sagar to Saryu, PM Modi noted the festive spirit of Ram's name visible everywhere. He said: "I have firm belief and immense faith that today, the devotees of Prabhu Ram are completely absorbed in this historic moment. The devotees of Prabhu Ram, in every corner of the country and the world, are deeply feeling this...This moment is divine, this moment is the holiest of all". 

  • Apologising to Lord Shri Ram, PM Modi stated, "Today, I also apologise to Lord Shri Ram. There must be something lacking in our effort, sacrifice, and penance that we could not do this work for so many centuries. Today the work has been completed. I believe that Lord Shri Ram will definitely forgive us today". 

  • Reflecting on the enduring separation, PM Modi compared the 14 years of separation in the Ramayana to the centuries Ayodhya and the country endured, acknowledging the collective suffering of many generations. PM Modi said: ""...In that period, the separation lasted only for 14 years...In this era, Ayodhya and the countrymen have endured hundreds of years of separation. Many of our generations have suffered this separation".
