Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday did 'Dandavat Pranam' at the Shri Ram Janmaboomi Temple in Ayodhya.
The highly anticipated inauguration of the Ram Mandir took place in a grand ceremony, marking a historic moment for the nation. PM Modi attended the Pran Pratishtha ceremony, which commenced at 12:20 pm.
The Pran Pratishtha ceremony was performed by PM Modi on Monday following which the idol of Ram Lalla was unveiled.
To make this occasion even more special, the Indian Air Force choppers showered flower petals over Shri Ram Janmaboomi Temple premises in Ayodhya.
PM Modi then broke his fast after concluding the consecration ceremony at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple. He was on a fast since past 11-day for the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The Prime Minister broke his fast by drinking water by the hands of Govind Dev Giri Ji Maharaj.
PM Modi embarked on an 11-day spiritual journey and followed a series of intense religious practices. Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Chief Priest Acharya Satyendra Das said that meticulous rituals for the fast includes sleeping on the floor, eating on a leaf, and chanting mantras.
Speaking to news agency ANI, Priest Acharya Satyendra Das informed, "The person who does 'anushthan' has to do prayshchit (penance). According to the rules, he has to sleep on the floor and cannot speak lies. He has to chant mantras like 'Gayatri mantra,' has to eat on a leaf, bathe twice a day, and follow Brahmacharya..."
