Patna: The Transport Department of Bihar government has given a 'rakhi gift' to all women in the state on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. Women will be able to travel free of cost in city service buses of the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC). They will not have to pay the fare to travel by bus that day. 


Many organisations requested travel facilities for women


In this regard, Transport Minister Sheila Kumari said that a special facility is being provided in city buses for women on Raksha Bandhan to boost women's participation and safe travel. Free travel facility for women on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan was requested by many organisations.

Transport Secretary Sanjay Kumar Agarwal said that a total of 125 city service buses are being operated in the capital by Bihar State Road Transport Corporation. It has 70 CNG buses and 14 electric buses. All the buses operate free of cost for women and girls on Raksha Bandhan. 


Special travel facility being provided to women


According to Shyam Kishore, administrator of Bihar State Road Transport Corporation, women are being given special discounts in monthly passes for traveling in city buses. 65 percent of the seats in all buses have been reserved for women. Cctv cameras have been installed in buses to enable women to feel safe while traveling in buses. Other facilities have also been provided.
