Rajya Sabha Ruckus: Special Committee To Probe Incidents Of Protest And Indiscipline

Opposition leaders claimed that several members of House, including some women MPs, were pushed by some outsiders, while Rajya Sabha Secretariat said there were no outsiders among security personnel.

New Delhi: On August 11, opposition members came up near the well, created a ruckus in the Rajya Sabha and tore the papers. Some members also got entangled with security personnel while trying to move towards the seat. There was also a scuffle and misbehaviour with the woman security officer. Now sources have reported that the committee will be formed to investigate the incident within a week.

A Special Committee will be constituted for investigation which will have 6 to 12 members. Opinions are currently being sought from the former Secretary General and legal public.

The government has demanded setting up of a committee to look into the conduct of opposition members during the uproar. Sources said in view of the uproar in the session and the government's demand, discussions are still on to form a committee 

Opposition members were also shouting slogans in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday when the insurance bill was being passed by voice vote. Some of them could not know that the bill had been passed and they were informed by their leaders. Earlier on Tuesday, some opposition members, including Trinamool, Congress, had climbed the table of officials which is just below the seat. He sat on the table after the House was adjourned.

Opposition leaders claimed that several members of the House, including some women MPs, were pushed by outsiders who is not part of parliament's security. The statement is signed by leaders of 11 parties including NCP chief Sharad Pawar, T. R. Baalu.

While the Rajya Sabha Secretariat gave a statement that Lok sabha and Rajya sabha secretariat personnel were deployed. The deployment of these personnel is approved as per the requirement. There was no outsider among the security personnel.
