Rajasthan: Govt To Reimpose Section 144 From Saturday As Coronavirus Cases Rise; 2,549 New Cases Reported In 24 Hours
The development has come after Rajasthan on Thursday reported 2,549 new cases of Coronavirus, taking the state’s infection tally to 2,34,907. 15 people lost lives in past 24 hours, pushing the death toll to 2,116.
In the wake of rising cases of Coronavirus, every state government is taking precautionary steps to control the spread of the novel virus. While states like Madhya Pradesh, Delhi have refused to impose any lockdown, the Ashok Gehlot-led Rajasthan government has reportedly decided to reimpose restrictions under Section 144 starting Saturday, November 21. The development has come after Rajasthan on Thursday reported 2,549 new cases of Coronavirus, taking the state’s infection tally to 2,34,907. As per the latest updates, 15 people lost lives in past 24 hours, pushing the death toll to 2,116.
For the first time in the last eight months, a record 538 positive cases were found in Jaipur on November 16 in a single day. There were 450 cases on November 11, 460 cases on November 12, 475 cases on November 13, 406 cases on November 14 and 498 cases on November 15, 538 cases on November 16 and 484 cases on November 17, 468 on November 18.
Looking at the sudden spike in the Covid cases in the state, the central government on Thursday sent a central team to various states including Haryana, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Manipur to extend a helping hand in strengthening containment, surveillance, testing and efficient clinical management of coronavirus positive cases.

As per the data revealed by the Union Ministery of Health, the total confirmed Coronavirus cases in India as of 19 November 2020 are 89,58,483. Recovered patients are 83,83,602 (93.58%), while active cases are 4,43,303 (4.95%) and death toll is 1,31,578 (1.47%).
