New Delhi: Members of Rajasthan's Dalit community marched in protest on Tuesday, saying that a gathering commemorating Dr B R Ambedkar's birth anniversary was assaulted with stones by members from a dominant caste, news agency PTI reported.

They even threatened to flee from their villages if justice was not served to them.

Members of the Dalit community marched with placards and their animals to the demonstration.

They said that members of the Gurjar group assaulted persons taking part in the April 14 march with sticks, injuring nine people.

The demonstrators claimed that they bombarded the rally with stones and sent a memorandum to the district collector.

According to Bharatpur District Collector Alok Ranjan, a complaint has been filed against nine persons in this matter.

On April 16, the opposing party also filed an FIR, alleging an attack by members of the Dalit community.

He stated that three of the accused have been apprehended so far, and that attempts are being made to apprehend the remaining suspects.

According to ASP Chandra Prakash Sharma, the protest march went all the way to the Bharatpur collector's office.

"We assured them of fair investigation but they are demanding that the complaint lodged by the other group be quashed, which is not possible," he was quoted by PTI in its report.
