Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday met a two-wheeler rider, who fell off his scooter following a minor accident outside his residence, as reported by news agency PTI. Gandhi, who was reinstated as an MP, is set to speak in Lok Sabha at 12 PM today.

First time after being reinstated as an MP, Rahul Gandhi will speak in Parliament at 12 pm today, Leader of Congress in the Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has told news agency ANI.

Rahul Gandhi was reappointed as a Member of Parliament when the Lok Sabha secretariat issued a fresh order. This new decision essentially nullifies the previous one, which resulted in Gandhi's exclusion from legislative office owing to his conviction in the 'Modi surname' case.

When asked for a reaction on getting back his official residence as an MP, Rahul Gandhi stated: "The whole India is my home (Mera ghar poora Hindustan hai)."

The developments come after the Supreme Court awarded Gandhi reprieve on Friday by temporarily stopping his conviction via an interim decree.

The original notification was issued on March 24, a day after Gandhi was convicted by a Surat court in Gujarat. This conviction stemmed from a criminal defamation prosecution that began in 2019.

On April 22, a month after getting a two-year term from the court, he fled the home. When a legislator is sentenced to two years or more in prison, he or she is automatically disqualified. MPs are allowed to maintain their official houses for a maximum of one month after being disqualified.

After the former Congress head had transferred his stuff, the Congress party had tweeted: “This country is the home of Rahul Gandhi. Rahul who resides in the hearts of people. Rahul whose relation with the public is unbreakable. Some see in him their son, some brother, some their leader... Rahul belongs to everyone and everyone belongs to Rahul. This is the reason why today the country is saying- Rahul ji, my house-your house. #MeraGharAapkaGhar."
