Following the Ram temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday (January 23) dismissed the event as a "political programme" orchestrated by the BJP. He refuted any claims of it generating a significant impact among the public.
Responding to queries about "Ram Leher," Gandhi asserted, "There is no 'Leher.' There is nothing as such. It is BJP's political program..." He made these remarks in a video shared by news agency ANI on X.
Gandhi said, "It is nothing like that, that there is a wave. I had said earlier also that this is the BJP's political programme and Narendra Modi ji did a function and a show there, it's good, but we have told you, we have clarity about our programme which is about five justices to strengthen the country".
The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, focusing on five pillars of justice - participation, justice for youth, labourers, women, and farmers - has become a central issue in Assam. Gandhi announced that the Congress party would present its blueprint for these pillars of justice over the next month, Gandhi added further.
Gandhi also criticised Assam Chief Minister Himant Biswa Sarma for obstructing his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, stating that such actions would inadvertently bring more attention and publicity to the yatra.
As per a PTI report, addressing a press conference in Assam's Domdoma, Gandhi highlighted the issues faced by the people in the state, including massive unemployment, corruption, rising prices, and the struggles of farmers. He accused the Assam Chief Minister of being one of the most corrupt in the country.
"The chief minister of the state is one of the most corrupt chief ministers in the country. Whenever I move in the state people tell me -- that there is massive unemployment, massive corruption, massive price rise, farmers are struggling and no youth can get a job in this state. These are the issues we are raising," the former Congress chief was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
