Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Raghav Chadha on Friday (August 11) responded to his suspension from the Rajya Sabha with a commitment to his mission of "safeguarding India's democracy". In the face of this temporary setback, Chadha stated that he is determined to emerge even stronger, emphasising his zeal for the cause.

"This suspension is merely a temporary setback. I will return stronger, more determined, and even more resolute in my pursuit of saving India's democracy," Chadha was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

"My suspension serves as a stark message from the BJP to today's youth: If you dare to ask questions, we will crush your voice. I was suspended for asking tough questions that left the BJP, the world's largest party, without answers through my speech in Parliament on Delhi Services Bill," he added.

Earlier in the day, Chadha introduced himself as "suspended Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha" and clarified that he had not forged any signatures in his first reaction following his suspension. "Namaskar, I am suspended Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha. Yes, I have been suspended from the Rajya Sabha today. What was my crime? "

In response to the "forgery" charge levelled against him, the AAP leader stated that he had not forged or taken any signatures from any MPs. He stated that he had simply nominated the names of several MPs for a parliamentary committee and did not require their signatures or written consent. They could refuse to serve on the committee and withdraw their names from consideration.

"The allegation is simply a mudslinging attempt to smear my reputation. I want to assure you that I am not afraid of these challenges; I will continue to fight," the suspended MP said.

Chadha was suspended from the Rajya Sabha today for "breach of privilege" after four MPs claimed he violated rules by including them on a House panel without their permission.
