Ten people perished, including three children, after the vehicle collided with a stationary truck in Gujarat's Ahmedabad district on Friday, according to police, news agency ANI reported. According to the police, the accident occurred during daytime on the Bavla-Bagodara highway. "Today in the daytime, an incident took place in which a truck was parked at the roadside due to puncture and a vehicle was going to Ahmedabad from Rajkot and the passengers travelling in the vehicle belong to Kheda village," Ahmedabad SP Amit N. Vasava stated. 


"The vehicle collided with the truck parked by the roadside which led to the death of passengers. A total of ten people have died including five females, two males and three children," he stated. 


He further stated that the police is currently investigating the accident. "We are investigating the matter and RTO and NHAI are also involved in it. 23 people were there in the vehicle, out of which two people have sustained serious injuries," he said. 






Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), Gujarat chief minister Bhupendra Patel stated: “The tragic incident on the Bavla-Bagodara highway in Ahmedabad district is heartbreaking. I extend my heartfelt prayers for the peaceful rest of the departed souls and a swift recovery for the injured. My condolences go out to the grieving families."






Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences over the tragic incident and announced an ex gratia of Rs. 2 lakh for each killed person and Rs. 50,000 for those injured.






“Pained by the road mishap on the Bavla – Bagodara highway in Ahmedabad district. Condolences to the bereaved families. May the injured recover soon. The local administration is providing all possible assistance to those affected. An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF will be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000,” the prime minister’s office said on Twitter.
