Punjab Elections 2022: After a bomb went off at a Ludhiana court, the security measures are tightened in the state. The Intelligence agencies have warned of more terror attacks in the election-bound state of Punjab. A senior police officer was quoted by ANI saying that presently, "Punjab is more fragile than Kashmir."


The Intelligence agencies have intensified the safety of sensitive installations and are keeping a close watch on social media activities. They are anticipating terror activity. The local intelligence unit and the police are working closely to monitor the situation in Punjab.


"We held a meeting with state intelligence officers and issued a warning to them regarding terror activities in the state. We have asked them to keep a close watch on social media to keep tapping on any rumour-mongering. At present, Punjab is more fragile than Kashmir," said a senior police officer told ANI.

The officer said that there was a rise in drone activities in border areas and arms were dropped in Indian territory. The police fear that the smuggled explosives will be used to destabilize law and order in Punjab.


"There were several instances of drones used to drop explosives were remained undetected and it might be used in terror activities before or during elections to create a law and order situation," said the officer.


The sacrilege into the sanctum sanctorum of the Golden Temple and lynching incident in Kapurthala was followed by a bomb blast in Ludhiana which has led to these beefed-up security measures. 


On December 18, BSF personnel intercepted a hexacopter (drone) flying at a low altitude in Punjab's Ferozpur border sector on Friday night. It was made in China and crossed into Indian borders from Pakistan. In addition, an intruder was shot dead by BSF along the Indo-Pak border in the Gurdaspur sector.
