Punjab CM Channi Launches 'Mission Clean' To Tighten Noose On Sand, Drugs & Liquor Mafia
In a meeting held with Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police, Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi directed to take strict actions against sand, drug and liquor mafia
New Delhi: Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi launched ‘Mission Clean’ with an aim to curb sand, drug, and liquor mafia. The Chief Minister launched the programme on Sunday in a meeting held with the state’s Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police, reported ANI.
In the meeting, the CM spoke about taking strict action against people involved in corruption, illicit sale of liquor, sale of drugs, and the sand mafia. He ordered the DCs and SSPs to take strict action against any such mafias.

The Chief Minister further gave directions to the Mining Department to see that sand and gravel are being made available in the market at government rates and directed DCs and SSPs to ensure the same. CM Channi further directed the Mining Department to make sure that Panchayats are not charged for using sand for development purposes.
Ahead of Diwali, Channi asked DCs and SSPs to ensure that no shopkeepers are unnecessarily troubled during the festival season. He asked DCs and SSPs to issue guidelines to the SHOs to ensure the same.
They too should enjoy Diwali, further added the CM.

Chief Minister Channi also issued orders to ensure that farmers are not troubled for lifting soil for levelling their fields.
In this regard, the CMO said: "Taking a serious note of the matter, CM Channi asks the mining, irrigation and civil & police administration to ensure that no farmer should be harrassed for lifting of soil from his land for farm leveling purpose."
