New Delhi: 2nd October 2021 marks the 152nd birth anniversary of the 'father of the nation', Mahatma Gandhi. Tributes and wishes have poured in from all around the world to wish the teacher of non-violence.


The President, the Vice President, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi and other leaders paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat. 


President Ram Nath Kovind paid floral tributes to Gandhiji at Rajghat.


The President took to Twitter and wrote, "Homage to Bapu on #GandhiJayanti. It is a special day for all Indians to remember Gandhiji's struggles and sacrifice. Let us take a pledge that we will continue to strive for making India a country of Gandhiji's dreams while adhering to his teachings, ideals and values."






Apart from Kovind, Sonia Gandhi and vice-President Venkaiah Naidu also paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and others were among the people that went to Rajghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.

Mahatma Gandhi continues to be an inspiration for many, not just in India, but also abroad. Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary is also observed as the International Day of non-violence.


The nation is also remembering former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his 117th birth anniversary today. Prime Minister also visited Vijay Ghat, the memorial of Lal Bahadur Shastri in the national capital, to pay him floral tributes.
