President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday extended greetings to Indians on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, wishing the festival spreads unity, harmony, and brotherhood.


In a post on X, (fomerly Twitter) President Murmu stated: "I wish all my countrymen, especially my Muslim brothers and sisters, a very happy Eid-ul-Fitr. This festival, celebrated after the holy month of Ramzan, spreads the spirit of unity, harmony, and brotherhood. This festival of sharing happiness inspires forgiveness and charity. On this auspicious occasion, I wish that our country continues to progress on the path of progress and all the countrymen always live in peace."






West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wished Eid Mubarak saying, "It is the Eid of happiness. It is the Eid of giving strength. It is a big thing to observe this Eid by fasting for a month. We are ready to shed blood for the country but will not tolerate torture for the country. A uniform civil code is not acceptable. I want Harmony of all religions. Your safety. Your life. No NRC, no CAA."


Former Union Minister and BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi also extended Eid greetings, praying that the festival strengthens India's security and growth. 


"On the occasion of Eid, I congratulate every countryman and people across the world. We pray that this Eid, along with joy will also strengthen our country's security and growth," he said.






Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) chief Ghulam Nabi Azad also extended greetings on the festival.


"Eid is the biggest day of joy. I pray to the supreme God that he accepts the 'Roza' of people all across the world. Sab ko hamari taraf se Eid Mubarak."






Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated after the culmination of the fasting month of Ramzan. 


As the festival is celebrated across the world on different days, depending upon when the crescent moon is sighted, denoting the beginning of the Shawwal month in the lunar Islamic calendar, the people of Kerala and Ladakh celebrated Eid yesterday (April 10).


Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also extended Eid greentings to people on Wednesday. In a post on X, he stated: "May everyone be happy and healthy. Eid Mubarak!" Eid is being celebrated in Kerala and Ladakh on Wednesday, while it will be celebrated in the rest of the country on April 11."






US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti also wished India on Eid saying,"Eid Mubarak! Reflecting on delightful iftars I hosted for friends and colleagues, filled with the vibrant essence of Ramadan. From savouring the rich flavours of kebabs to indulging in sweet treats like shahi tukda, this month has been a celebration of the cultural and religious diversity of India. It's heartening to witness how rituals and traditions bring people together."
