Undeterred By News Of Mother's Death, Diligent Ambulance Driver Ferries Covid Patients To Hospital

After conducting his mother's last rites he returned to work the next day. 

Agra: About 10 days ago, during his shift ambulance driver Prabaht Yadav received a phone call from his family informing that his mother had passed away. Yet, Yadav didn't stop working as he believe that it wasn't an option and it was more important to rush Covid patients to hospital than to return home . 

The grieving ambulance driver He took 15 patient thereafter, before his shift came to an end and he travelled 200 kms away from the city to his village Mainpuri.

After conducting his mother's last rites he returned to work the next day. 

“I was shaken, but I had to gain control and go on. I couldn’t just drop what I was doing. The work we do is critical,” he told Times of India (TOI). 

According to the TOI report, Prabhat has been driving 108 ambulances for about 9 years, he was one of the first to be picked for the Covid duty last year in March but when the cases were going down last year, he was relieved from the job. However, in April he was back at it. 

The programme manager of Mathura 102 & 108, Ajay Singh, said that he was a dedicated worker.

Yadav lost his father to Covid-19 last year in July and he had returned to duty after conducting the last rites in 24 hours. 

Prabhat told TOI, “My mother is gone. If I can save some people, she would be proud".
