Poonam Azad, wife of supended BJP leader Kirti Azad to join AAP on Nov 13
New Delhi: Poonam Azad, wife of suspended Bhartiya Janata Party leader Kirti Azad will be joining the Aam Aadmi Party on November 13.
“Poonam Azad ji will officially join AAP on November 13,” senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh told the media.
Poonam Azad is currently BJP’s Delhi unit spokesperson and has served as its vice-president in the past. She faced growing marginalisation in the party for some years after having earlier been a member of the BJP National Executive thrice.
Kirti Azad, who currently represents Darbhanga in the Lok Sabha was suspended from BJP in 2015 for publicly targeting Finance Minister Arun Jaitley over corruption in the District Cricket Association (DDCA).
It is being assumed that Poonam Azad’s decision is driven by this suspension of Kirti who had continued with his tirade despite party chief Amit Shah's intervention.
