New Delhi: The Kasganj incident has intensified politics in Uttar Pradesh, opposition parties are blaming the Yogi government for the Kasganj youth's death.


Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi has cancelled her visit to Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Now instead of Priyanka Gandhi, Salman Khurshid will meet the victim's family. Reacting to this incident, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi said that there is no such thing as human rights left there.

Priyanka Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the Yogi Adityanath government of the state. She said that it is clear from incidents like the death of Altaf in Kasganj, Arun Valmiki in Agra, Rajesh Kori in Sultanpur in police custody that the protectors have become monsters.


Attacking the current government, she said that the law and order situation has completely collapsed under the rule of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Priyanka Gandhi said that looking at the current events, it can be said that no one is safe in the state.


Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party attacked the Yogi Adityanath government for "yet another custodial death", saying that criminals and police are committing an "encounter" of law and order in the state under the BJP rule reported PTI. 


The Samajwadi Party took to Twitter to attack the Yogi Adityanath government, calling the incident another misdeed of UP's "thoko (trigger-happy) police". "In UP, under the patronage of the chief minister, criminals and police are committing an encounter of law and order. The guilty policemen should face a murder case and must be punished," Samajwadi Party said in a tweet in Hindi.


The incident comes close on the heels of a sanitation worker, who was accused of stealing Rs 25 lakh from Jagdishpura police station in Agra, dying in police custody after his health deteriorated during interrogation.


A youth on Tuesday was called in for questioning, at Kasganj police station for a kidnapping case but died in custody, his family members allege that he was killed by police personnel. The police claimed that Altaf, 22, had strangulated himself using a string from his jacket hood in the washroom of the police lock-up, they further said five policemen have been suspended for negligence in the wake of the incident on Tuesday.
