New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address Thursday's National Conference of Labour Ministers of all States and Union Territories. The two-day Conference is being organised by the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment on August 25-26, 2022 at Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.


According to a statement by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), the conference will help create synergy between the Union and State governments on labour issues and matters related to workers’ welfare. PM Modi will address the conference today at 4:30 PM via video conferencing.

"The Conference is being convened in the spirit of cooperative federalism to discuss various significant labour-related issues. It will help create further synergy amongst the Centre and State Governments in formulating better policies and ensuring effective implementation of schemes for the welfare of workers," the PMO statement read.


As per the release, the Conference will have four thematic sessions: Integrating e-Shram portal for onboarding social security schemes to universalise social protection, 'Swasthya se Samriddhi' for improving medical care through ESI hospitals run by State Governments and integration with PMJAY, framing of rules under four Labour Codes and modalities for their implementation, 'Vision Shramev Jayate @ 2047' to focus on just and equitable conditions of work, social protection to all workers, including gig and platform workers, gender equality at work, among other issues.


Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also address the Grand Finale of Smart India Hackathon 2022 later in the day, at 8 PM via video conferencing. The Smart India Hackathon (SIH) was started in the year 2017. M Modi has been interacting with the student participants of the SIH every year since its inception
