Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to participate in a grand event in Kolkata in December where approximately 1 lakh people will collectively chant the Bhagavad Gita, informed BJP's West Bengal president Sukanta Majumdar on Monday. The event, named 'Ek Lakh Gita Path,' is scheduled to take place at the Brigade Parade Ground on December 24, news agency PTI reported.

"We have invited PM Modi to attend the program, and he has accepted our invitation. One lakh people will recite Bhagavad Gita together on that day," the Bengal BJP President said, as quoted by PTI.

He clarified that the program is non-political, and invitations have also been extended to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Governor CV Ananda Bose, and other prominent personalities of the state.

However, the Trinamool Congress accused the BJP of strategically organising the event with an eye on the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh remarked, "As the Lok Sabha elections are approaching, it is quite natural that BJP leaders would be visiting the state more frequently. We have seen this trend ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, and the assembly polls of 2021. But, this would not yield any result", PTI reported.
