PM Modi is in Varanasi, his parliamentary seat, for two days, where he will announce 37 projects totaling Rs 19,000 crore for regional development. He will also inaugurate the second edition of the Kashi Tamil Sangamam and a new rail service between Kanyakumari and Varanasi.
This is not the first time the Prime Minister, who has been vociferous in his opposition to VIP culture, has pulled over for an ambulance.
Last year, on September 30, the Prime Minister's convoy halted on a vital route in Gujarat to make room for an ambulance. The incident occurred as PM Modi and staff were travelling from Ahmedabad to Gandhinagar.
Similarly, on November 9, 2022, PM Modi halted his convoy to allow an ambulance to pass after returning from a rally in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh.
PM Modi will start the second edition of Kashi Tamil Sangamam at the Namo Ghat on the first day of his visit to Varanasi. He will launch the Kashi Tamil Sangamam Express, which will run between Kanyakumari and Varanasi, at the ceremony.
According to an official release, 1,400 dignitaries from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry will attend the Kashi Tamil Sangamam, which will be held from December 17 to 31, and will tour Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Ayodhya.
There will also be an exhibition highlighting the rich tapestry of art, music, handlooms, handicrafts, cuisine, and other special goods from both Tamil Nadu and Kashi.
Literature, ancient texts, philosophy, spirituality, music, dance, theatre, yoga, and Ayurveda will all be covered in talks during the Kashi Tamil Sangamam. Seminars on innovation, commerce, knowledge sharing, edutech, and next-generation technology are also scheduled.
PM Modi will attend the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra function at Barki Gramme Sabha in the Sewapuri development block on Monday.
