New Delhi: Prime Minister will inaugurate the new circuit house in Somnath today at 11 am through video conferencing. The inauguration will be followed by an address by the Prime Minister to the gathering. 


An official press release from the Prime Minister’s Office stated that a need for a new circuit house was felt as the old one was far from the temple. “Somnath Temple is visited by lakhs of devotees from India and abroad every year. The need for the new Circuit House was felt as the existing government facility was located far off from the temple,” the press release read. 






Located near the Somnath temple, the new Circuit House has been built at a cost of over Rs 30 crore. The new building is equipped with suites, VIP and deluxe rooms, conference room, auditorium hall etc as per the official statement. “The landscaping has been done in such a manner that sea view is available from every room.” further read the release.

PM Modi became chairman of the Somnath Temple Trust in January last year. He already had been a long time trustee of the Shree Somnath Trust which overlooks the management of the famous Somnath Temple in Gir Somnath.


Other trustees of the temple trust are former deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, former chief secretary of Gujarat PK Laheri, Chairman of Kolkata based Ambuja Neotia group Harshvardhan Neotia and Gujarat based scholar JD Parmar.
