In order to boost the morale of the security forces, while addressing the nation on Friday, a day before Diwali PM Modi asked the countrymen to light a diya for the soldiers on the border.

“This Diwali, let us also light a Diya as a #Salute2Soldiers who fearlessly protect our nation. Words can’t do justice to the sense of gratitude we've for our soldiers for their exemplary courage. We're also grateful to families of those on the borders,” said PM Modi.

Last year during Diwali, PM Modi called the soldiers as their family and praised them for guarding the borders during festivals away from family.
