J&K: Pakistan Army on Friday resorted to unprovoked firing and shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in 4 sectors in North Kashmir. The Indian Army said that suspicious movement was observed by troops at forward posts along LoC in Keran sector of Jammu and Kashmir today. The suspected infiltration was foiled by troops. There was also unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistan along LoC in Keran sector by firing mortars & other weapons.

In the major flare up, Pakistan resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation in multiple sectors along the LoC in which three civilians were killed, two army soldiers and one BSF officer also died in action.


A police official said that on Friday, Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms and shelling mortars along LoC in Dhard area.

He said the residents are being evacuated to safer places. The shopkeepers in Tangdhar market have also closed their shops and moved to safer places, reports said.

The armies of India and Pakistan also resorted to heavy cross-border shelling in Hajipeer and Kamalkote sectors of border town Uri and Gurez in Bandipora, along the Line of Control (LoC).

A police official said that Pakistan army resorted to the unprovoked ceasefire violation along the LoC in Hajipeer and Kamalkote sectors.

“It led to the strong retaliation from the Indian army,” he said. As per the official, no loss of life or any damage has been reported so far in the shelling.

However, panic gripped the residents of both the sectors forcing them to stay indoors. The shelling was going on from both the sides when last reports came in.
