US Capitol Building Riots: Prime  Minister Narendra Modi has condemned the unprecedented attack at the US Capitol building by the supporters of Trump and has said that an orderly and peaceful, transfer of power must continue.

The democratic process cannot be allowed to be subverted through unlawful protests, PM Modi said.

“Distressed to see news about rioting and violence in Washington DC. Orderly and peaceful transfer of power must continue. The democratic process cannot be allowed to be subverted through unlawful protests,” PM Modi tweeted.


The riot in the heart of the United States started when Congress that was holding a joint session to ratify the Electoral College votes electing Democrats Joe Biden as President and Kamala Harris as Vice President.

Over thousands of the rioters shouting "Trump" and "USA, USA" overwhelmed the police and pushed the barriers around the Capitol and rushed after the joint session adjourned for the Senate and the House of Representatives met separately to consider objections to the electoral college votes from Arizona.
