"He, not us, is poster boy of Pakistan", Gandhi said attacking PM for his friendly gestures with former Pak PM Nawaz Sharif and for getting the country’s intelligence agency for Pathankot attack probe.
The Congress chief was addressing a presser over Rafale deal, where he hit out at the PM for inviting Sharif to India and then also going to Pakistan.
His comment came in response to PM Modi's recent jab at opposition at a political meeting in Madhya Pradesh, calling the parties as poster boys of Pakistan. PM had said the air strike happened in Pakistan, but "some of those sitting in India were hit by it".
"These "mahamilavati" persons have become poster boys of Pakistan by terming it as an ambassador of peace. They are misleading people of the country and trying to demoralise our armed forces by asking for proofs of the IAF air strike," he had said.
Rahul Gandhi said in the press conference that Modi got ISI to probe Pathankot attack and invited then Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif for his swearing-in ceremony.
“Who went to Pakistan? Modi got ISI to probe Pathankot attack, invited then Pak PM Nawaz Sharif for his swearing-in. He not us is poster boy of Pakistan,” said Gandhi.
In the year 2015, while PM Modi was returning from Afghanistan, he halted at Pakistan, on the birthday of the then PM of the country Nawaz Sharif.
On the recent air strike in Balakot, which has led to a political debate on the number of terrorists killed, Gandhi said that the government “should show what happened.” About the evidence of the IAF strike, Gandhi said he would prefer not talking much about it.
He however, said that the families of the martyred CRPF personnel have raised the issue, so the government should show what has happened.
“Won't talk much about it, but yes I read that families of some of the CRPF personnel who were martyred have raised this issue, they are saying we were hurt so please show us what happened” Gandhi said.
On Wednesday, mother of CRPF martyr Ram Vakeel who lost his life in Pulwama attack, demanded to see the bodies of the dead terrorists killed in Balakot air strike.
BJP leaders have been citing different figures of the casualties of Balakot air strike, triggering questions from opposition parties. The Foreign Secretary however did not provide any number for the casualties.
