Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a ceremonial welcome at the Federal Chancellery in Warsaw, Poland, on Thursday. When PM Modi arrived at the Chancellery, he was received by his Polish counterpart Donald Tusk.
"A new landmark in the India-Poland partnership. PM Narendra Modi warmly received by PM Donald Tusk of Poland at the Federal Chancellery in Warsaw and accorded a ceremonial welcome. This visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Poland after 45 years will impart fresh momentum to the India-Poland partnership," said the Ministry of External Affairs in a post on X.
Following the ceremonial welcome, Tusk and PM Modi held bilateral talks.
On the second day of his trip to Poland on Thursday, PM Modi will also be hosted by Tusk for lunch. The Prime Minister will lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and meet President Andrzej Duda. Modi's visit to Poland is the first by an Indian PM in 45 years, and meant to to strengthen the relationship between the two nations. On Wednesday, it was announced that India and Poland have agreed on a social security agreement.
Modi's itinerary for Poland includes meetings with the business leaders and Polish influencers.
PM Modi arrived in Poland on Wednesday, and met the Indian diaspora. The members of the Indian community raised slogans lauding PM Modi and chanted "Bharat mata ki jai", ANI reported.
