PM Modi Birthday HIGHLIGHTS: Since being elected Prime Minister in 2014, Narendra Modi has celebrated every birthday in a very unique way.
Shah Rukh Khan extended sweet birthday wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said, "take a day off and enjoy."
"PM Modi's birthday is being celebrated as 'National Unemployment Day' by the country's youth. He promised to provide about two crore jobs annually, but instead only seven lakh people have been given employment in the last eight years," said Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate.
Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama wished Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 72nd birthday on Saturday and prayed for his good health.
In a letter to Modi, the Dalai Lama offered his good wishes and prayers for the prime minister's good health. He also extolled India's efforts in meeting the challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic. “It's wonderful that India has successfully met the challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic. Although we have not seen the complete end to it, India today is better placed to address similar challenges in the future. “As the longest-staying guest in India, I have observed its development first hand. Now the country is also a rising economic power and a leader in science and technology," he stated in the letter.
"I am delighted to say India is poised to assume its rightful place in the world," he said.
"Today, a new history has been written. For the first time, a 'Kaushal Dikshant Samaroh' for more than 9 lakh ITI students has been organized... Nation is again emphasising on skill development. We've to ensure our youth excels not only in studies but also skills," said Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

At a program of Self Help Groups in Sheopur, the Prime Minister emphasised that a huge difference between the India of the last century and the new India of this century has come as a representation of "our Nari Shakti". "In today's new India, from Panchayat Bhawan to Rashtrapati Bhavan, the flag of women power is flying," he said, as quoted by news agency ANI.
PM Modi said that in the last 8 years, his government has attempted to empower Self Help Groups in every which way. "Today more than 8 crore women across the country are associated with this campaign. We aim to have at least one sister from every rural household associated with this campaign," he stressed.
"Our government is working continuously to create new possibilities for women entrepreneurs in the village economy. Through 'One District, One Product' we are trying to take local products from every district to big markets," the Prime Minister added.

Participating in the Women's Self Help Group (SHG) Sammelan organised at Karahal, PM Modi said: "On this day, it is generally my endeavor to meet my mother (on this day), touch her feet and seek blessings. Today I could not go to her, but lakhs of mothers working hard in tribal areas and villages are blessing me here today."

BJP workers on Saturday celebrated Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday in Varanasi --- his parliamentary constituency --- by worshipping ‘Maa Ganga’ and offering prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath temple.
On the occasion, the workers also distributed fruits and sweets, said Kishor Kumar Seth, media in-charge of the party's city unit.

About the Cheetah Reintroduction Programme, PM Narendra Modi further said that people will have to show patience and wait for a few months to see these Cheetahs in Kuno National Park. "These Cheetahs have come as guests, unaware of this area. For them to be able to make Kuno National Park their home, we'll have to give these Cheetahs a few months' time," PM Modi emphasised.
Following international guidelines, India is trying its best to settle these cheetahs. "We must not let our efforts fail," he said.
The Prime Minister stressed that nature, environment, animals, and birds for India are not just about sustainability and security. "For us, it is also the basis of our sensibility and spirituality. Today, India of the 21st century is giving a message to the world that economy and ecology are not conflicting fields," he stated.
Addressing the nation, Prime Minister Modi congratulated the citizens as he thanked the government of Namibia: "Today, the Cheetahs have come back to our land after decades. On this historic day, I want to congratulate all Indians and also thank the government of Namibia. This could not have been possible without their help.
"Decades ago, the age-old link of biodiversity was broken and had become extinct, today we have a chance to reconnect it. Along with these cheetahs, the nature-loving consciousness of India has also awakened with full force," he added, as quoted by news agency ANI.
He said it was unfortunate that "we declared Cheetahs extinct from the country in 1952, but for decades no meaningful effort was made to rehabilitate them. Today, as we celebrate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, the country has started rehabilitating Cheetahs with a new energy."
