'I Have A Request...': PM Modi Commends 'Team G20' For Success And Praises At Bharat Mandapam

PM Modi proposed creating a website for this purpose, envisioning it as a repository of best practises and guidelines for organising upcoming international events.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his appreciation for the dedication and hard work of G20 functionaries during a gathering at the Bharat Mandapam on Friday, attributing the G20 Summit's resounding success to their collective efforts. Addressing Team G20, including the ground staff, PM Modi praised their efforts, emphasising that the summit's significant accomplishments rightfully belonged to them. Furthermore, he urged the team to document their summit-organizing experiences, emphasising the valuable insights that such documentation could provide for future events.

PM Modi proposed creating a website for this purpose, envisioning it as a repository of best practises and guidelines for organising upcoming international events.

"We received compliments from all over, and it is due to the hard work of all the functionaries.... The credit for the huge success of the G20 Summit goes to all of you," PM Modi said to Team G20, including ground staff, as reported by news agency PTI.

"I have a request to make that if you all can record your experiences on a website. It will serve as guidelines for future events," he said.

"You may have been working for years, but during the G20, you would have come across different people of great calibre," Prime Minister Modi said. "We are all workers."

"The Commonwealth Games were held in the country a few years ago. It was an opportunity to rebrand the country and showcase our capabilities, but it became entangled in other issues that brought the country into disrepute," he added. "Previously, only the West was discussed in terms of assisting others in disasters; India's work in overseas crises has given the world confidence in its abilities."

The interaction, designed to recognise the often unsung heroes who played a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless execution of the G20 Summit, witnessed the participation of approximately 3,000 individuals.

The roster of individuals included 700 staff members from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), alongside 300 personnel from the Delhi Police, Special Protection Group (SPG), Rajghat, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indian Air Force (IAF), and various other departments, according to an official statement.

During the event, a group photograph was also scheduled to capture the memorable occasion.

Special Commissioners of Police and other senior officials from the Delhi Police were present, as reported by ANI, citing a Delhi Police official. The interactive session featured the attendance of ministers and officials from diverse departments. Following the engagement, a lavish dinner was hosted as a gesture of appreciation and to celebrate these unsung heroes.

The G20 Summit, held under India's presidency of the G20, attracted participation from more than 40 heads of state and delegates from across the globe. The summit transformed New Delhi into a bustling hub, and it was hosted at the state-of-the-art Bharat Mandapam located at Pragati Maidan in Delhi. India assumed the G20 presidency on December 1 of the previous year, during the Bali summit, and will continue to hold this esteemed position until the end of November.

On the opening day of the summit, G20 leaders unanimously adopted the New Delhi Declaration, marking a significant milestone in the event's proceedings.
