PDP Leader Attacked: In an attack by unidentified gunmen at the residence of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader Pervez Ahmed in Natipora area of Srinagar, a personal security officer who had received  gunshot wounds, succumbed to the injuries.

"Manzoor Ahmad (Personal Security Officer of a PDP leader) who got injured at Natipora in Srinagar succumbs to his injuries," said Jammu and Kashmir Police.

As per sources, the name of the attacked security officer was Manzoor Ahmed who was on guarding duty of the PDP leader. As per local reports, Manzoor had gone to market to buy milk and was shot near the entry gate of Pervez Ahmed’s residence.

He was admitted to hospital where he is receiving treatment for his injuries. As per the reports he received a gunshot wound in his stomach.

"In an indiscriminate firing by terrorists, Manzoor Ahmad, Personal Security Officer of a PDP leader got injured at Natipora in Srinagar. He has been shifted to hospital. Area has been cordoned off. Further details shall follow, said Kashmir Zone Police.

The attack comes amid polling for District Development Councils (DDCs) in Jammu and Kashmir, to be held in eight phases.

Poonch encounter: 2 terrorists killed, 1 held

Meanwhile, on Sunday, an encounter broke out between security forces and militants, in which two Pakistani terrorists were neutralised and one associate arrested in Durgan Poshana area of Poonch.

News agency ANI quoted Jammu & Kashmir police saying that an encounter broke out between the security forces and three terrorists in Dugran Poshana area of Poonch today.

"An offer to surrender was given to terrorists which includes a local and two Pakistanis but they opened fire on cordon team that led to an exchange of fire," Jammu & Kashmir Police said.

According to other media reports, the terrorists are believed to have infiltrated into this side from across the Line of Control (LoC) about three days back. The trio was heading for south Kashmir's Shopian district when they were intercepted in a snow-bound area this afternoon.
