Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury writes to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla over the Ethics Committee report on TMC MP Mahua Moitra.
The letter reads, "I would request that Members may be given sufficient time of 3-4 days at least to study the report and prepare themselves for the discussion in the House. I would therefore request you to fix a day and time at least 3 days from now, for taking up the discussion in the Ethics Committee Report."
Congress MP Pramod Tiwari says, "Firstly, the (Ethics Committee) report was leaked before being tabled in the Lok Sabha. We cannot say or do anything till the time the report is formally presented in the House. Committees are a smaller version of the Lok Sabha. Ideally, it should not have people committed to political parties."

The fifth day of the winter session is all set to commence in parliament, with heightened anticipation surrounding the tabling of the ethics panel report on TMC MP Mahua Moitra in the Lok Sabha today.
Earlier on Thursday, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman addressed the Rajya Sabha on the fourth day of the winter session, emphasising India's position as the fastest-growing major economy. Sitharaman noted the substantial contribution of all sectors to economic activities, highlighting the remarkable growth in the second quarter, which she stated was the highest globally. The Lok Sabha concurrently passed the Central Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2023. Both houses are scheduled to reconvene tomorrow at 11 am.
In a separate development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a standing ovation at the BJP Parliamentary Party meeting, acknowledging the party's significant victories in three assembly polls. BJP MPs expressed their support through slogans praising the Prime Minister's leadership.
The ongoing winter session holds crucial importance as it represents the final opportunity for the government to pass legislation before the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. The session, consisting of 15 sittings, will continue until December 22.

Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill, 2023: This bill amends the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019, aiming to elevate the reservation for Scheduled Tribes in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir from 7% to 10%.
Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2023: This bill introduces further amendments to the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019, facilitating the nomination of two members from the Kashmiri migrant community and one member representing displaced persons from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) to the legislative assembly of the Union Territory.
Central Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2023: The bill proposes amendments to the Central Universities Act, 2009, paving the way for the establishment of a Central Tribal University in the state of Telangana.
Advocates (Amendment) Bill, 2023: Focused on altering the Advocates Act, 1961, this bill introduces changes to the procedure for the admission and enrollment of advocates. The Rajya Sabha had previously passed the bill during the Monsoon Session in August of this year.
