Both the Houses of the Parliament witnessed a stromy session on Tuesday as the Opposition cornered the government over the fresh clash between Indian and Chinese troops near Tawang sector in Arunachal Pradesh along the Line of Actual Control. 

Congress claimed that they were assured of a clarification but were not granted later due to which the Opposition staged a walkout after Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's statement over the Tawang clash. 

After chairing a high-level meeting with the Army Chief and Chief of Defence Staff, Union Minister Rajnath Singh made statement in the Parliament where in he told the House that no soldier was injured or martyred in the clash. 

Following furore by the Opposition which disrupted the proceedings of the Parliament, both the Houses of the Parliament were briefly adjourned. 

Apart from uproar by the Opposition and back-and-forth of statements between the government and Opposition, Union Minister of State (MoS) Nityanand Rai on Tuesday said in the Lok Sabha that the decisions regarding the award of Bharat Ratna are taken from time to time and no formal recommendations for this Award are necessary, reported news agency ANI. 

He was replying to the query of BJP leader Bhagirath Choudhary who had asked if there is a set criterion for conferring 'Bharat Ratna', the date on which the 'Bharat Ratna' award was started and whether the government proposes to confer the award on various brave freedom fighters.

In the Rajya Sabha, the government informed the House that there has been no fresh indent being placed with the press for the printing of Rs 2,000 denomination notes from 2018-19 onwards, as per ANI report.

Parliament Winter Session LIVE: Indian Rupee Strengthening Against Other Currencies, Says Sitharaman

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said Indian rupee is strengthening against other currencies. While speaking in the Lok Sabha, the minister further said the government will further bring down inflation. It is constantly watching price situation of essential commodities. "We will be able to meet fiscal deficit target of 6.4 per cent of GDP for current fiscal," Sitharaman said.
