The Congress is planning to attack the BJP-led central government over price rise and the GST issue. Congress will hold protests against the recent hike in Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates on Tuesday in Parliament and party leader Rahul Gandhi is also likely to attend the protest. While speaking to media persons on the GST hike, Congress Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge said on Monday had said that they will protest at the Gandhi statue and also inside as well as outside the House. "We will fight it tomorrow, will protest at the Gandhi statue and also inside as well as outside the House. We have appealed to all parties to fight against price rise, GST hike," said Kharge.

Parliament's Standing Committee on Communications and Information Technology, headed by Congress leader Shashi Tharoor will examine the working of the Information Technology Act 2020 on Tuesday. Monsoon Session Live: Bill To Amend Family Courts Act In Lok Sabha

A bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha on Monday which seeks to amend Family Courts Act to provide for establishing family courts in Himachal Pradesh from February 15, 2019, and in Nagaland from September 12, 2008. The bill was introduced by Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju. This bill is likely to be passed the first week of the monsoon session. The Business Advisory Committee has allotted four to discuss the bill, it is learnt. The Family Courts (Amendment) Bill, 2022 has been brought with the objective of overcoming the issue of lack of jurisdiction of Family Courts in the States of Himachal Pradesh and Nagaland.

Parliament Monsoon Session LIVE: The Monsoon Session of the Parliament started on a stormy note on Monday with the Opposition demanding discussion on a range of issues from inflation to Agnipath scheme. As the Presidential elections were scheduled for Monday, the morning session of the Lok Sabha was adjourned for members to cast their poll even as Opposition members tried to raise some issues. NDA's Droupadi Murmu has been pitted against joint Opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha for the race to the next President of India. PM Modi and JP Nadda were among the first voters to cast their vote. 


Polls for election of Vice-President will be held on August 6 where Jagdeep Dhankhar from and Margaret Alva are in the fray. 


Three newly-elected Lok Sabha members — Bollywood actor and Trinamool Congress' Shatrughan Sinha (Asansol, West Bengal) and two BJP members from Uttar Pradesh Dinesh Lal Yadav Nirahua (Azamgarh) and Ghanshyam Singh Lodhi (Rampur) — took oath as the member of the House. 


Earlier, both the Houses of the Parliament paid homage to former Japan prime minister Shinzo Abe, ex United Arab Emirates president and Abu Dhabi ruler Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Kenya's third president Mwai Kibaki.


The Lok Sabha Speaker also read out obituary references of eight former members of the House who passed away recently. They are Rabindar Kumar Rana (Bihar), T Basheeer (Kerala), Nawal Kishore Rai (Bihar), Sukh Ram (Himachal Pradesh), Hussain Dalwai (Maharashtra), Shivaji Patnaik (Odisha), Chakra Dhari Singh (Madhya Pradesh) and Harivansh Sahai (Uttar Pradesh).


In the Rajya Sabha, Naidu made obituary references to former members Kishore Kumar Mohanty, Robert Kharshiing, K K Veerappan and santoor player Pandit Shivkumar Sharma.
